ALL BAR ONE | EVENT

Friday 11 October 2019

So I got invited to the opening of All Bar One in Newcastle. I was so excited, originally we were suppose to go to the event on the 4th of October but it was moved to the 10th! I told my mum all about it and she dug our this lovely black strapless dress for me to wear. I took a +1 with me and that was Tony. Perfect opportunity for a date night! Warning this post is picture heavy.

We got there and were greeted by a lovely woman, I told them who I was and she asks me if I’m one of the influencers. I’ve never been called that before and it flabbergasted me. I’m just a little blogger who got invited to an evening of cocktails and canapés. Me... an influencer. Anyway, she gave us two tickets each and these were to be traded in for a drink of choice. We had a glance around and took our seats,  instantly forgetting  what area was what inside the bar. All I remembered was the mini masterclass in cocktail making! But soon a lovely waitress came over and asked if we were okay and if we wanted anything from the bar. We decided on paying for cocktails first and she took our order of one pornstar martini and a watermelon margarita. Off she went to put in our order at the bar and later she came back with our drinks. Not long afterwards I decided to crack on with some photo taking and get a cheeky photo in front of the “canny lass” wall. Two lovely waitresses came over with a tray of shot glasses, they were the Japanese vodka with watermelon and raspberry. This was a cocktail that was part of the the birdcage. And it’s £30 for 4 cocktails but oh my god are they amazing. This cocktail was delicious and it tasted like pop. It was a dangerous cocktail, you could drink it as if you were drinking a Vimto and be absolutely monged before the night was over.

After our paid cocktails we decided to cash in a chip and went to the cocktail making section. For the life of me I can’t remember what the liqueur was called but it was orange flavoured. The lovely instructor told us to take one shot of the liqueur and plop it into our glass, I had my coat stuffed between my legs at this point and a lovely staff member asked to take it, after she took my coat we topped our glass off with ice then poured half a glass of soda water and a dash of Prosecco with a garnish of an orange slice. Which I carefully balanced on my glass and it was as simply as that. Bit  miffed  I didn’t get to shake one of those cocktail shakers like Tom Cruise. Now I’m not a huge fan of Prosecco but after a few sips and a graceful finger swirl into my glass, this cocktail we made was quite lovely. During our little talk and swigging of our orange cocktail, canapés were being walked around and of course I had to try some.

Firstly we got handed the tiniest burger known to man, it was just a simply miniature burger with salsa sauce and it was gorgeous. I really wanted a human sized burger (we ended up at maccy ds at the end of the night) then I tried a cocktail sausage with some sort of mustard sauce and that was delish too! Honestly every little canapés we had, I wanted a whole tray of. I even ushered a lovely server to gimme more sausages. He loved my style of me basically going “yes, food, bring, I love it” I also had little BBQ chicken legs but I missed out on the little tacos! I could have eaten so many canapés. And the mini burger was a win for my picky eater that I called my husband.

After our 2nd cocktail we decided to chip in the last of our tokens. Tony went for a bottle of lager (well I think that’s what is was) and I tried a gin and tonic from the Japanese area! I wanted to try something different but my taste buds do not like gin and tonic. No matter where it’s from. I think personally it’s the tonic I don’t like so I will need to have a drink with a different mixer.

Overall I had such a lovely time at All Bar One. The staff were phenomenal and were so lovely during the whole event. The canapés were delicious and so were the cocktails. Although in general the cocktails are a bit pricey and many restaurants and bars on the same street offer cheaper drinks. All Bar One serve food as well during opening times. And I will definitely be trying out their food in the future especially if they taste anything like the canapés we had.

The atmosphere is lively yet chilled and the decor is beautiful. I loved seeing all of the plants on the ceiling (there is just something about plants extended in the air that I love in restaurants) it made the place quite magical especially with the candles on our tables. I loved seeing all the bloggers and people who bought tickets enjoying themselves and vlogging the night and I was so happy to be a part of it all. Thank you All Bar One for having us and I will return!
