Jewellery Ever After

Sunday 9 November 2014

It's been a while but the lovely folks at Jewellery Ever After sent me a bracelet to showcase for you guys. It's a Pocahontas inspired bracelet but my inner gamer is telling me it's inspired by Assassin's Creed 3. I chose is because not only do I adore the colour but it goes well with a casual outfit.

I found this shop super cute and just my type of style. The only downside to this bracelet is the feathers keep digging into my wrist. Eep. The jewellery is themed after Happily Ever Afters, from the likes of Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland so if your a Disney fan then this shop is definitely for you.

In The Buff..

Monday 20 October 2014

Buttercream Mineral Foundation £22.50*

I'm a bit late in posting this, but better late then never I suppose. A few weeks ago I was sent a lovely product to review from In The Buff. They are a make-up company that specialize in 100% vegan and Natural make-up for the face and eyes. They sell beautiful brushes too!
In The Buff was founded in 2009 and there aim is to enhance beauty and not to cover it up. All of their cosmetics are free from preservatives, artificial colours, talc, oil, fragrances and other skin irritants, minimizing the chances of rashes, sores, pimples and blocked pores.

I chose the buttercream mineral foundation to review. I've never tried a powder foundation before and I wasn't disappointed. It came wrapped up in beautiful blue paper and for the price it's quite a small pot but gives beautiful coverage. The only thing I was a bit miffed about was trying to actually get it out of the tub. I found myself patting it onto the lid to get some out. I found buttercream to be a little bit too dark for my skin tone as I'm very pale. It's perfect for skin that doesn't need full coverage unlike mine, I need to cover those pesky freckles, occasional spots and bright red cheeks of mine. Once I put it on the apples of my cheeks, I noticed a soft coverage. My skin felt quite nice to the touch.
I continue to use it over my liquid foundation, which may or may not be something I should be doing, but it works quite well as it surprisingly blends into it .
In the buff have eyeshadow's which are priced from £11. Pricey for just a small tube but a little goes a long way and I know they will last for a very long time. I have my eye on (pardon the pun) on "Skies" which is a beautiful lilac/purple.

Will you be trying out one of their products? Let me know which one.

Review: Poundland's Twist & Out Polish Remover

Monday 22 September 2014

Hello Bloggerinos, ever just found a product that makes everything a tad bit easier and less messy. Well this is that product for me. This polish remover was actually recommended by a friend and the next day I went out to Poundland and bought it. You just pop in your finger, give it a good twist and twirl around the sponge inside and pull it out and your polish is gone. Okay it's abit stubborn on glitter nails but we all need a bit of elbow grease to get glitter off. amirite?

Of course this is just poundland's own brand, like everything else in the shop. I've seen far too many documentaries about Poundland or Poundworld that I would like to admit & I think all nail polishes are the same regardless of the brand printed on the label. It always stinks and it always does the job. Has anyone really bought a bottle of nail polish remover and thought... I'll never get this again, it was utter shite? Whichever way you bottle it. Nail polish remover is the same in any shape or form. Just like Peanut Butter.

Anywho.. Poundland's remover is definitely Quick, Compact and gives No fuss. According to my friend, it's quite long lasting as well. I will be repurchasing. For only £1, you can't go wrong.

What is the most expensive nail polish around? Let me know in the comments! :D

September Goals

Thursday 28 August 2014

This year has just flown by. Lately I've been occupied with planning and celebrating my wedding, planning for EGX and London MCM Comic Con that I haven't really been blogging much. I will be blogging about my wedding soon enough once I get my professional photos back from the photographer.
Every month I try and set some goals for myself as I'm one of these people that would rather spend all day gaming on the PS4 and binge watching Netflix. Without small goals or lists, I'd probably live a life of chaos.
These are my current goals for September and some lifestyle choices that will change how I live right now.

Attend Gym/Get fit & Healthy - My last goal post which was in July! I wrote about losing weight that month, which was something I accomplished but after the wedding, it went down hill and I ended up putting on more weight. Today (28/08/2014) I went to the gym, not to exercise, that will come soon enough but to get my induction so I can meet a gym trainer ( TO BE THE BEST POKEMON MASTER... lolz just joking) who will go through the equipment and my needs for getting fit and active tomorrow. I could just easily run down the street and back to get healthy but with so many distractions in the house I'd fail. And I'm paying. So this will make me want to get my moneys worth. :)  I want to just cut out all that junk food I've been eating, takeaways, crisps, chocolate, biscuits... Goodbye unhealthy Jess and hello to a world of avocado on toast and mountains of veggies. I'm really excited for this. This is one of my main goals in life not just for September. Maybe's I'll even document some of my healthy choices. ;)

Find my voice on Youtube - Ever since I started watching Let's Plays and Vlogs on Youtube, I myself have wanted to start doing youtube videos. I tried in the past but I felt like I wasn't confident or I had nothing to talk about in front of the camera. Hopefully when I go to the events in Sept & Oct. I can vlog them for you guys who have stuck with me on Twitter and in the blogging world. I'll ease myself into it with Q&A videos or just some gameplays for you guys. Sometimes I just find myself uninteresting but I will find some youtube content for you.

Keep ontop of Housework & Decorating - I'm so lazy and tidying up is a daunting task for me. But we've been slacking lately in the decorating and tidying up department.  Since our computers are now upstairs in our bedroom & not in the living room we don't go downstairs much unless the internet is cut off. So we need to get our lazy butts and hoover up once in a while. We've lived in this house a year and it still hasn't fully been decorated. Grr. Time for a change.

Cosplay Cosplay Cosplay - I love cosplay so much and I love attending conventions. I adore seeing everyone's costumes and how well they've been made. And I'm starting out my very first cosplay in October for MCM London. And I'm going to be the McDonalds Girl from the movie The Fifth Element. She's only in it for about 4 seconds but her outfit makes a big impact on me. And it's very different. I just hope someone realizes who I am. I can't wait to see all the artists and stalls. It's just nerve racking that people might want a photo with me. Anyway my goal is to continue working on my costume for October and continue to do new cosplays over the coming months. :D

My So Called Blog - As I said before I haven't really been blogging much so I'm getting back on the blogging wagon. I want to shift how my blog looks and what content I want to blog about. I feel like I haven't completely found my niche. I might even use my twitter username as my blog name as I feel that's more me than "Nerdy Tea Girl" So some changes to my blog will be made over the next month.

Do you have any goals for this month or year?
Let me know what they are in the comments below.

The London Tea Company*: With 20% Discount For you!

Monday 21 July 2014

A few weeks ago I kindly got sent a box full to the brim of gorgeous teas from The London Tea Company and these past few weeks I've been going through all the flavours and drinking them but lately the weather has been warm and I've been favoring chilled drinks.
Confession time - I'm not actually a big tea drinker even though my blog is called Nerdy Tea Girl. I like iced tea & green tea though & drink them regularly. So I guess I do drink tea, just not every day. I just prefer a glass of iced water. :)
From time to time I do like a cup of fruity herbal tea and this box was jam packed full of sweet smelling teas. It was absolutely gorgeous. Of course there were black teas & green teas as well.

Lets start with the two boxes. White Tea Pear Tatin & London Breakfast.
London Breakfast is my favorite drink out of the entire box of teas. It really is a classic tea and tastes better than PG Tips. When I want that rare cup of tea, I reach for a bag of this. You can sweeten it with sugar and a dash of milk and ooh la la, the perfect brew. London Breakfast starts from £2.20 on their website.
Pear Tatin is a White Tea with a hint of ginger. Now I'm not fond of ginger in teas, it's far too strong of a smell but I had a great time trying out this flavour. I must admit I'm adventurous with food but not with teas.
Sencha Green Tea is a lovely tea to drink. I'm quite the Green Tea drinker, so I approve of this one. ;)

Vanilla Chai is one of these teas that have a very strong smell. A smell that made me not want to try this at all. It's a black tea so you are able to put sugar & milk in the cup too and that's exactly what I did. And I must admit, it was rather tasty. The smell was still abit weird for me but it was really nice with 2 sugars and some milk. I suggest you try this.
I drank Raspberry Inferno and left most of it. I wasn't feeling this cup of tea at all. Which is a shame as it has such a lovely smell. It has a tiny kick of chilli which isn't too strong and I was surprised by this, I went head in thinking it was going to burn my mouth! Pure Rooibos is a beautiful tea. You may add milk if you wish as well, which I think I will try next time around. You must try a cup of this!

Peach and Rhubarb is a tea which can be drank ice cold. Perfect for a summers day. Fruity & light and perfect for me. :D I'm a green tea drinker & this tea was right up my alley. I love feeling healthy after drinking a cup of this & it has a hint of pineapple & mango. Delicious. Earl Grey. What can I say about this. It's Earl Grey. I love a cup of this in the evening.

The Peach and Rhubarb packet was suppose to be Chamomile tea! Wuups, I made a photo mistake.
I must admit, I still need to try these teas out. I'm not the biggest fan of all three flavours. But don't knock something until you've tried it! :D
I would like to thank London Tea Company for making such wonderful teas. You can buy their range here

The London Tea Company have given me a 20% discount code for you lovely readers. use londontea on your first order. Please note that this is not redeemable against discounted or sale items.

Casa Antonio

Thursday 10 July 2014

Ciao Blogger-rinos.
I was invited to celebrate a birthday at Casa Antonio. An italian resturant in Benton. I've been here before, many years ago whle working at my very first job for the council and it was beautiful then as it is now. I wish I could have gotten better photos of my food but I was too busy enjoying it as well as the atmosphere and beautiful decor.
The decor was a range of deep shades of green, red, yellow and brown. With pieces of Italy dotted around the place and pretty printed leaves running up the walls, it really felt like I had been transported to Italy for a day. A place I would love to visit one day. I'm a lover of Pasta, the accent & the italian renaissance. Ooft.

We had the 3 course meal special which was £6.95. Which included a starter of soup or potato skins & both are delicious by the way. I chose Minestrone soup & my partner had potato skins. The main meal was a choice between a pasta or pizza ,anything else and it was £1 etc on top. I chose a Tomato Meatball dish with tagliatelle it was veramente buono and for dessert was ice cream. I chose chocolate of course as that's my favorite flavor out of Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate. I should have asked for a combo of Chocolate & Vanilla Swiiiiiirrrrrl. Boo-ya. ( Hehe, Orange is the new black reference there for you) For drinks I had water with ice & a orange squash. I don't like anything fizzy while I'm eating and always prefer my drinks icy.

I would love to come here again and take more photos of the decor. It's priced really well. For two of us it was £17. And the staff there are just lovely. :)

If your ever in the North East - Newcastle, check out Casa Antonio in Benton. :)

Arrivederci!

July Goals

Tuesday 1 July 2014

It's July?! Where the heck did June go? This year seems to be going quite quickly. Maybe's it's because this year has been full of events that I'm not use to doing. Next month is my wedding and the month after that I'm off to Eurogamer in London. Exciting stuff. As you know from an old post, I like to set personal goals each month for myself. Sometime's it turns into a To-Do list rather than a set goal list.
I also keep a notebook handy for checklists. I'm a list girl. And I bet you are too.

June wasn't that eventful. I celebrated a few birthdays, checked a few items off my Wedding list & played games for most of the month. July is all about finishing wedding planning, losing weight & making the most of summer.

Lose Weight
My biggest goal right now is to shed a few more pounds before the wedding in August. My dress fits but it's a bit too snug in some areas. Today starts the day of my soup diet. I love soup and I could live on veggie soup for days. The plan is to eat a healthy breakfast, soup for dinner and snack on fruit or have a light salad. Of course I went out and bought a ton of soup, from Mushroom to Beef & Veggies to Minestrone. And half a week's worth cost only £2. Not only am I trying to slim down but I'm also saving money by not buying junk food & takeaways. I hardly drink alcohol, so my calories don't come from that. But I used to snack alot. Whether it was chocolate or sandwiches. It was always the wrong foods. I did snack on fruit occasionally but this time I'm sticking to it. Perhaps after this month of dieting will change how I eat food.

Go Outside
This also ties in with eating healthy. I need to put down that playstation controller, turn the laptop off as I can watch Pretty Little Liars anytime and just go outside. Take a walk. Photograph the place around me. Go to the beach,  Anything as long as I'm outside and hopefully with the weather heating up this will tempt me to go outside more. I've vowed that even on the days I don't wanna get out of bed. I will make myself get dressed and go for a walk. The exercise will do me good. Hopefully I can get into a good routine. (There is a likely chance this will never happen, I'll give it a go)

Finish Getting Wedding Stuff
There is still work left to do and this is the month to finish off loose ends to do with my wedding.
Food needs to be bought for the buffet, Tony's ring & suits needs buying. I need someone to do my hair, I need to make two flower bouquets. I also need an underskirt and a bolero to cover up my spotty scarred arms. I need to finish paying off the wedding & get a venue for the party as well as decorations. This should be done within in the next two weeks. Fingers crossed.

Decorate Passageway
I've lived here for almost a year and the only room that's been painted is the bathroom. I'm quite sick of the last tenants grubby magnolia walls. We need to finish off the passageway, paint the bedrooms & redecorate the living room. It's time consuming & I usually don't have the money to get finishing touches and the paint. So my goal this month is to completely finish the passageway. From fixing those bullet holes (long story) to freshening up the paint. I will make this a home to be proud of.

Clean Clean Clean
I'm quite lazy when it comes to cleaning. I leave Tony to do most of it. So my goal of this month is to take charge and clean the house everyday and not tell myself "It can wait till tomorrow" because it never gets done. Let's give this house a spring clean. :D

Read Read Read
I told myself I would read 3 books a month a few blog posts ago. And this never happened. In fact I've read about a chapter of Will Grayson, Will Grayson and then started to read manga book Attack on Titan.
I have tons of books. I need to just sit outside in the park across my house and enjoy the sunny weather with a good book & a drink.

And these are my main goals for this month. Of course there will be little goals here and there but I think this is enough for one month.

Do you have any goals this month?
Let me know in the comments :)

Tea Pigs Matcha Super Power Green Tea Drinks!*

Wednesday 25 June 2014

Hello everyone!
It seems that almost everyone in the blogging world has had TeaPigs before. If you haven't, hop on board because TeaPigs are uh-maze-ing. I recently received their new Super Power Green Tea drinks in the mail and oh boy was I excited to try these out. I thought I would try out the Apple flavour first and I have to admit, it wasn't strongly flavored with Apple as I thought it would. You get the flavor of the tea, which isn't bad at all.
I love green tea, I used to drink it all the time but lately I've only started drinking tea again & I always preferred chilled drinks so I chilled mine in the fridge so it tasted like Iced Tea with a hint of Apple but all the goodness of the Matcha. I actually felt good about myself while drinking this. Is that strange? Since it's now Summertime, drinking these Super Power Green Tea drinks, chilled, is heavenly and I suggest you try them. I've also perked up slightly from drinking. I can't wait to drink the Elderberry & Grapefruit flavors.

The side of the bottle quotes -
"Matcha is a superhero among teas. 100% ground green tea leaves from Japan- essentially a super concentrated green tea containing natural green tea flavouroids (catechins) Matcha tea bushes are grown under lots of shade which boosts their chlorophyll content. The hand picked leaves are ground up by granite stones to a super fine poweder. So when you drink matcha, you're ingesting every little bit of green tea goodness. Thats why we call it super power green tea"

I can see myself buying a bunch of these drinks from the website. I really want to get a pot of Matcha powder for myself to add to my drinks but it's a tad pricey at the moment for me. I would adore the Matcha Pot set that includes a whisk and a glass! Hello Christmas present (or wedding present ;) ) The set is priced at £32.50, a 30g box of matcha tea is £25, a 2g sample is £2 and the super green drinks are priced at £1.89.
At the moment, anyone who joins up to the website's newsletter gets 10% off their first purchase but can only be used in the first 7 days! Excellent *Taps fingers together like Mr Burns*

Check out their other teas aswell! In the package I also received a teabag of their Lemon & Ginger tea. It was very strongly smelled, I might give it a go. Don't knock it until you've tried it. According to the website, this can be an iced tea drink, so I will definitely try this one chilled! I'm also loving the glass tea pot and cups you can buy in their shop

Let me know which is your favourite drink from TeaPigs! :)

Purr Boxes*

Saturday 21 June 2014

Hello crazy cat ladies and bloggers! Today I'll be reviewing... or rather my cat will be reviewing the latest box around, Purr Boxes! Purr boxes are the purrfect subscription box for that feline you love. Now before we start I must say, my kitty got to this box before me, ripped it to shreds and ate half the box. So there are items that have been gobbled and are missing. I will try my best to describe the items that are long gone and enjoyed very much by the cat! Also check Zazzles's youtube video at the end of the post.

Purr Boxes kindly sent me a box to review & Zazzles was the purrfect tester.

What is a Purr Box?
Purr Boxes are monthly boxes full of goodies for your cat. This includes toys & treats for £9.95 a month with free delivery when purchasing a monthly subscription and £1.99 when buying a one off box. Not bad, ey? There boxes are perfect to slot through the post box...but arn't cat proof. Even though they have assured me that this is the first time a purr box has been ravaged at someone's front door by their feline friend. Zazzle's just got a little too excited about receiving his first ever bit of mail!
Now onto what was inside the box. I couldn't photograph the packet of Catnip or Cat Grass as it had been destroyed, well mainly just the catnip. The grass is safely tucked away ready for the packet to be patched up and planted in a pot. :D

Firstly there was this adorable felt bow, if only Zazzles could wear it, because bow ties are cool. Right? Next up was this cute mouse toy that Zazzles did manage to get out of the box and play with, so he enjoyed that! And my favourite item in the box were the Tea for Mews. That's right tea bags for cats. You make it like you would do with any other tea bag, brew it, let it cool down and give it to your cat. Either your feline buddy will drink this healthy catnip drink or just bask in the glory of it's smell next to his or her's bowl. Genius. Just imagine a cat with a monacle, newspaper and a cup of tea for mews! We also have two pieces of wood that I'm not sure what they are used for but I'm sure Zazzles will chew on them? Are they for chewing or something else? Let me know in the comments!

EDIT: The wood is compost pellets for the grass

Next up was this cute sequined feather star catnip toy! Now, Zazzles has been known to be flamboyant with his toys. He likes the pink fluffy feathers on a stick so he was very keen on this sparkly number!
I'm aware that there were more packets of Webbox food sticks. Zazzles mucnched his way through Cheese, Malt and Fish flavoured sticks. Salami was the remaining packet as it was near the back of the box and he hasn't been able to get it yet, the little scamp. Obviously these went down very well! And so will the dreamies when I open them. He is quite literally like the cat on the advert, you know the one. Where the guy shakes the packet and the cat comes running though the walls. Yep! Shake any packet and Zazzles comes running. When he is a good boy I will give some to him but for now he can just bloody well wait.

And lastly, the box. Cats LOVE boxes. I know this one does. :')

So apart from the Grass, Catnip and 3 packets of food sticks eaten, it's been a pretty successful box! Zazzle's was quite excited, he even left a trail of empty packets around the doorway for me to find.
Check out his little youtube video of him inspecting the rest of the box. :D
I have to say, I'm rather impressed with Purr Box. For £10, you do get quite a few things in the box & when you notice the price of some of these items in shops. It's worth it. And it's purrrrrrrfect for cats! Honest. ;)

The Wedding Diaries: Budgeting & Bits 'n Bobs

Tuesday 17 June 2014

The big day is almost upon us! I've bought my dress and I'm currently waiting for it to be delivered. I'd show you a photo but my fiance reads my blog and I don't want him to spoil it. I managed to get my dress with a big help from my fiance's mum. I greatly appreciate her coming to my rescue. Of course after I was able to get my dress, I started to get very excited. The overall cost of my dress was £59.
I had a dawdle in Home Bargains, knowing fine well they sold wedding bits and bobs such as postboxes, bunting, napkins etc so I bought 30 bubble wands for the favor boxes & a cake slicer and knife for £4.98. Now that's definitely a bargain. I'm still needing chair & table covers and pretty bunting for the party venue though.

Somewhere down the line, I found myself on pinterest. I know. I know. Big mistake but I did get alot of cheap wedding inspirations! I don't have alot of money to spend, in fact this whole wedding is a budget wedding. I'll probably end up on a episode of superscrimpers or the likes but it's not about how much money you can blow on a wedding, even though that would be blissful, it's about how you spend the day with the one you love and everyone around you. Anyhoo, as I can't afford a big flashy photobooth. I've decided to make my own. I have the camera, the back drop and the tripod. All I need is some photobooth props and away we go! I'll also be printing off a checklist of cute camera shots people can take. With things such as "Take a photo of a cute couple" & "Take a photo of the bride & her bridesmaids laughing". I think it's a cute idea to get people to take out their own cameras & make some memories.
I shall be taking the laptop, buying a spotify premium account so I can listen offline and making a wedding party playlist to hook to the speakers in the venue. Waaall-a. Instant DJ area. Just let spotify do the work & save about £100 not having a hired DJ.
I've also decided to make my own flower bouquets. Gathering fake flowers & ribbon from wilkinsons or various craft shops will help the cost a great deal.
As for the food for the buffet, lots of family are helping out and I will be making some geeky yummies too, because it can't be a Jess & Tony wedding without having something geeky on display. :D
I'm going to try and make childrens activity books so they don't get too bored after running around and making bubbles everywhere.

I have so many ideas that I can do. Ahhhhhhh. Of course I shall have a BIG blog post about the event. ;)
but for now...

Wantable June Accessories Box*

Monday 16 June 2014

Hello everyone! I recently got contacted by Wantable asking me if I would like a box to review and I said yes! Wantable have three different boxes to choose from, Accessories, Beauty & Intimates. I chose Accessories due to the fact there are plenty of make-up boxes around and I really don't need any more make-up at the moment as I'm happy with what I use. I also chose this box because I hardly have any accessories for the summer and I thought it would be perfect to try out new jewellery that I wouldn't normal pick up in stores. Wantable are based in the USA and have recently just started to ship to the UK. You may have seen a few reviews around the blogsphere. Wantable also choose what's going inside your box according to what answers you give during the sign up process. Questions from "Which type of accessories do you like" and "How do you feel about this type of style" I love how this box is personalized and with that added touch of putting in your name in the box too!
Wantable is $36 for a subscription and $40 for just a single box. Every box has full sized products, even the make-up box. But is this too highly priced for what is inside?

The Wrap Bracelet - $26
This is one of the first things I see in the box and it really catches my eye. It's perfect for summer time and the colours are beautiful. It also doubles up as a necklace which is wonderful and as soon as I took it out of the packaging I put it straight on. Now I just need a nice outfit to pair with. I would have picked this up in a shop if I saw it. I love the peachy pink tones of the leather look with the gold metal & white and blue contrast.

The Ring - $18
From first laying eyes on this, I've really disliked it. Not to everyones taste but the feel, look and the fact that it's a stretchy ring just make it look cheap and horrible. Especially for the recommended price. I would never pick this up at a high end store never mind a shop like New Look. This photo actually makes it look better than it is.

The Gia Necklace - $36
This necklace was packed away in a nice velvet envelope. I really liked it, it's not the type of necklace I usually go for. I like dainty necklaces that sit nicely at the collar bone. This necklace was big, chunky and made a statement. Unfortunately I would have loved this if it wasn't for the fact the chain's didn't match up where they were attached! I like everything to be perfect and I think it was made to look like this but I don't like it. There were also black marks that can only be described as marker pen on the pearls and due to the heaviness of this necklace, while photographing for these blog photos, the clasp snapped. As you can see in the photos the string was stretched and then I picked it up to move it and it snapped on me. I'm gutted as I really wanted to wear this necklace! I've gotten in touch with Wantable, let's hope they will reply. I will edit this post when they do :)

EDIT: Wantable replied to my email and are kindly sending me a replacement. Lovely customer service from them!

Looking at other wantable boxes, I felt like this box could have been better. I was highly disappointed in the ring and would have prefered something different. Overall I feel like even though the jewellery is highly priced, I proberly wouldn't buy this box. I was super excited to try something new and I'll probably only ever wear the bracelet now.

What do you think? Have you got a Wantable Subscription Box?

Upload Live: Newcastle

Sunday 8 June 2014

Hello! It's been a while. My creative juices have not been flowing lately but Nick Kent finally uploaded the photos from Upload Live concert in Newcastle so I thought I would blog about it since my phone photos of the night were crappy. Full credit goes out to him and you can check out his photography here.

If you didn't know already I quite like watching Emma Blackery's youtube videos and listening to her music. So when I found out she was coming to Newcastle's 02 Acadamy on the Upload Live tour with Bribry, Luke Cutforth & Dave Giles. I just had to get tickets and they were a steal at £8. We got there a bit late at the doors and it was heaving with young kids and teenagers. Being twenty four and going to events like this, makes me feel old. It was raining & my shoes were slippy and I had grabbed a burger and fries from McDonalds as I hadn't eaten prior to the event. The pouring down rain made my chips and feet soggy. I wasn't having a nice time in the queue and really wished that the door men would hurry up and let everyone in. To top that off, my bags got checked and I had to hand my bottle of Little Miracles drink, so I downed that fucker at the door. I was just happy to be inside, in the warmth which quickly turned into melt down mode. It was so hot after five minutes due to 100+ people being in a small room. I fanned myself down using the leaflets I found. Since about ninety screaming teenagers got in before us we just lingered in the back. So far in the back you can't even make us out on the bottom photos and the photos I took on my phone were just dark and blurry.

To be really honest, I was only there to see Emma and she was the last headliner. My ears almost exploded with the sounds of screaming every time Luke came on stage. First up was Dave Giles and I must say after his performance, I instantly became a fan. At one point he had to do a acoustic version of a song because the amp busted up and it was just beautiful. I wish I could remember the name of the song. Danny Gruff joined him on stage and it was amazing. They did some awesome songs, one that really stuck with us was "Skint" Then it was Bribry's turn who got quite the screams when appearing on stage. I remember not really being a fan of his music, I listened but it just wasn't for me and then the girl we were waiting for. Emma came on stage and then the crowd just went ballistic and roared for her. She opened up with Go The Distance and ended with Fuck you Google+. She proceeded to make the audience wet....with her water bottle. You dirty minded readers!

The ending was brilliant. They all came out and sang Lorde's Royals & School of Rock! It was so great. I enjoyed it immensely. If I had stuck around longer, I could have met Emma and had a photo op with her and the others but the lines were so hectic... pushing and squishing. It really brought out the claustrophobe in me. The security finally made an area on one side of the stairs to let us get out, we collected our coats from the coat room and quickly got out, it had stopped raining so Tony and I decided to go and get a kebab and a chicken burger from Tony's favourite chippy in town. I'll be uploading some of the videos on my youtube channel later as I managed to record Royals but not School of Rock, I was too busying enjoying it!

I'm not one to go to concerts, I prefer listening to music in the comfort of my own home. This was one of my first concerts & not my last either. I'm glad I booked tickets and waited in the rain for twenty minutes to listen to some great music! Do you watch these youtubers?

BLOGGERS TEASPOON

Friday 16 May 2014

Well hello there! How'ya doin'? Well I'm just doing quite fine, thanks for asking ;) And shall I tell you why? Of course I will, that's why your here, isn't it?... oh... okay... You were looking for naked photos of Ryan Gosling? That's fine. Urmm..Plenty of Gosling. Sit down, grab a cuppa, its a long post ;)

I went to my very first bloggers meet-up on the 10th of May, hosted by Rachel of Happy Little Syllables & Rebecca from Polkadot Notebook at the Salsa Cafe in Newcastle (Hey look ma!, I've got a social life.) To help raise a bit of dosh for world Lupus day and support my fellow blogging girlies. Okay on a serious note. What is Lupus you may ask?
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease. It can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years. In lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and other germs ("foreign invaders," like the flu). Normally your immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from these invaders. Autoimmune means your immune system cannot tell the difference between these invaders and your body's healthy tissues. In lupus, your immune system creates autoantibodies;which sometimes attack and destroy healthy tissue. These autoantibodies contribute to inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body. I know a few people who have been affected by lupus and the host of our lovely blogger's teaspoon, Rachel, is one.

Firstly, I was late to the event. I met up with Vicky from Describe the Sky, so we wouldn't be on our lonesome entering the Salsa Cafe, where the event was being held. And I had such a bad morning. Life threw silly obstacles at me and I had to fight through them. Claire from Dainty Ghosts was gunna meet us at monument in Newcastle but due to a crowd of protesters we were unable to see Claire and she went ahead of us to the cafe. Eventually, Vicky and I strolled in the beautiful cafe and walked into a room full of laughter and friendly faces! Some bloggers were leaving as we got there and I was melting in my coat even though it had been pouring down with rain outside. The cafe was beautifully decorated with balloons and bunting, on one wall were frames full of icons from Hollywood such as Johnny Depp and Frank Sinatra, the other wall featured a beautiful golden framed mirror, the tables had cakes, tea and sandwiches laid out, mostly munched but I did get to try Alice's heavenly caramel cupcakes which I later scoffed and the scones too, they were so lovely that the jam proceeded to drip down my chin, lovely jubbly. I didn't try the tea which was provided by Teapigs but I shall write a review on them very soon.

I didn't take many photos (I make up for it in writing though) and most of the evening was spent mingling. I couldn't believe the amount of bloggers who turned to me and said " Oh my god, you're italktoghosts!" or "You're Jess! omg  italktoghosts" , while staring at my boobies. A wave of stardom washed over me and then quickly faded. It was nice while it lasted. (We had little name tags so most of the evening people where gawping at breasts.) Rachel & Rebecca has a brilliant raffle for all of us, unfortunately I didn't win anything but it was all good fun and Rachel made such a lovely speech. We had to hold back the tears & sniffles, we made it through the speech and spent the rest of the hour mingling and almost everyone ended up smelling my amazing bath and body works hand gel which smells like watermelons but isn't! We even got snazzy goody bags with my all time favourite vitamin water in it, teapig samples, a beautiful smelly candle, lots of samples and a little nail polish! I could see Alice, the official photographer taking photos out the corner of my eye, I couldn't resist pulling a cheeky grin while giving a thumbs up, I'm sure that photo will surface soon!

The whole event just made £200. I'm so proud of Rachel & Rebecca for hosting such a great event. Well done girlies! After we all hugged and said our goodbyes. I didn't want this day to end so.. Me, Vicky, Katie, Claire & Charlotte went for a cheeky shopping trip to boots & primark afterwards. I bought a beautiful grey and cream butterfly duvet cover. ;)

I met some lovely new bloggers today & made some great friends! I can't wait for the next Teaspoon & for the next girly outing. :)

If you wish to give to Lupus --> you can text LUUK16 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070 i.e. LUUK16 £10

Review: Free Print's App

Thursday 8 May 2014

I was parousing the google play store and came across Free Print's App. At first I was a bit weary of such an app that offers "free prints". Could this been a scam? I had to find out. I just hate how much it costs to print photos from a Kodak kiosk or a Max Photos shop. I love digital photos but I've always preferred a physical photo. Albums full of photographs with memories attached and frames filled with smiles and happier times.
I scrolled through the reviews and the majority of them were 5 star. Surely these arn't real? I gave in and downloaded the app. The app that is also free. I would just uninstall if it looked the tiniest bit dodgy. I even looked through hashtags on twitter and saw a lot of happy customers.
Once the app had installed, a discount pop up appeared. FREE SHIPPING TODAY ONLY. Well hello there. Free prints and free shipping. Intriguing. I didn't have much to lose.
You only pay for postage and it never exceeds £3.99 after the discount code ended. So I began to pick 10 photos and once I found my 10. I checked out. It asked for my address and that was it. (Obviously when you are paying it will ask for your credit/debit card) I had ordered Free Prints... for free! It was easy & simple to use. The prices for larger photos were still cheaper than the ones you would print out at kiosks.

The details of Free Prints App:

- 45 Free 6x4 Prints Every Month
- Limit of 1 free print per photo
- Max 500 free prints per year
- Get points to receive free prints
- Postage costs from £1.50 and never exceeds £3.99
- Pay for additional prints & other sizes
- Sizes go from 6x4 to 40x30
- Select photos from instagram, facebook, phone and flickr
- Available on Android & iPhone

I ordered my prints on the 2nd of May and they arrived on the 6th. Which is pretty darn fast. I even got a discount code for a free 8x6 photo. I was so impressed I just had to tell you guys. Would I use this app again? Yes. It's easy, it's fast and its very well priced. And it's not a scam! Yippee.
I'd also like to point out that this is no way a sponsored post. I downloaded it and ended up with actual free prints. You should check them out.

Would you use them? Are you weary of what you download and buy from an app store?

Adventure Time : Leeds & Maxmoefoe Meet-up

Monday 28 April 2014

The day was the 12th of April and it's the day I venture out of Newcastle and to Leeds. Apart from Norwich & Holy Island, I've never been out of the UK nor have I visited anywhere else. The main reason for going is, Max Stanley, aka Maxmoefoe. An Australian youtuber. He wrote on his facebook that he would be doing a meet & greet in London, Leeds and Liverpool. Gutted that he could only do these cities, we booked mega bus tickets to travel to and from Leeds. It cost us only £30 for the both of us. I was so happy that Max would be my first youtuber to meet. Emma Blackery being my second in May.
The journey started at 6.45am and I'm not a morning person at all. We woke up at 4am which gave us plenty of time to get ready and check to see where the bus stops. When the bus arrived the driver made a joke about how the trip was yesterday and I slapped him on the arm for being horrible and giving us a heart attack. It took us about 2 and a bit hours to get to Leeds. We watched the film R.I.P.D which was good for a movie that I never heard of. It has Ryan Reynolds in it. check it out.

Upon arriving we took a snap of me outside the bus station to post to facebook as we hadn't really told anyone we would be "popping" to Leeds. And then we ducked into the outdoor market. I felt that I knew where we were going from the start due to checking maps. We had a gander at everything and wondered into the indoor market and oh boy did I start spending money in there. I found pretty tins for 10p each! I bought four of them and one was mermaid themed which I shall be giving to Claire. :)
After that we went explording into the town centre and I walked past a really pretty shop called Memphis Belle. There were butterfly tights in the display but they had non left inside so I bought a pair of tattoo tights for £6.99. Check them out on facebook!

We then headed down the street and saw a McNoodleKing which really tickled me. We then shopped in places we would normally shop in Newcastle. Poundland, Primark, Forbidden Planet and Candy Hero. We don't have a candy hero in Newcastle so this was such an awesome opportunity to get ton of sweets.
We popped into McDonalds using the free big mac monopoly card and then ended up winning a free mcflurry! Ronald McDonald was entertaining the children too. He was a skinny creep. While shopping in Primark I picked up some kitty kat nails, a floral thermal mug and a packet of bracelets. Primark has a ton of stuff that I want and will have to buy the rest later. I already had about 4 bags full of stuff and it wasn't even 11am! Forbidden Planet was abit bigger than Newcastle and was more organised. I stood there for about 20 minutes deciding on a new pop vinyl. Eventually I chose BOO from Monsters Inc. We also popped into CEX but nothing took my fancy. We ended up in Starbuck to use the plug sockets for the phone until it was time to group at the park where I made friends with a pidgeon. He sat alot next to us.

An hour ticked by and I was watching a just married couple take there wedding photos in the park and then it started to rain. 4pm arrived and on the dot Max and his girlfriend Xantia turned the corner. We took a big group photo and xantias Polaroid kept breaking. We were the only 24 and 25 year olds at the meet-up but Max and Xantia recognized  me from all the tweets and instagram comments we had sent to each other over the past months. Finally it was my turn to say hello after a long wait. I forgot to get a hug from Max tho but I warned him that the pop vinyls I had were not his and if he could sign them we held them up to take photos with and it really looks like Max was trying to pinch one of them. We also gave him a gift to open on his mailtime videos which I will put here later. While all this was happening, Xantia was filming us and I got a photo with her too and asked her to sign the pop vinyls as well. They were both such sweethearts, Max even liked the fact there were no penises in his mail. After the meet-up we went back to starbucks to drink a cuppa while waiting for the phone to charge again so we can watch something on the way back and we had another trip into McDonalds for dinner (fattie alert) (Excuse the chubby face below /derp derp)

I'm so happy to have come to a great city (Tony even said he would live here) and meet such a great couple. Thank you Max and Xantia for a great afternoon. Next time I shall be meeting Michelle in Leeds.
And we've decided to do mini Adventures once a month using the mega bus. Next time we shall be visiting Scotland. :)
I have plenty more photos but this is just it for now :P

What other cities should I visit?

Review: Grey Ray Stationary

Sunday 20 April 2014

Hello bloggerrinos! Ahhh. Who doesn't love a bit of stationary? And a life hack every now and again. Well, Grey Ray's drawing out and protective pencil caps are just that. An awesome artist hack. But  Jess.. No one really uses pencils these days. Pish Posh! Of Course they do! Especially drawers! I wish I knew of these when I was in high school! I'd always find the stubby pencils in the bottom of the box that the teacher handed over or my pencil getting covered in Doritos dust that accidentally fell into my bag after stuffing them into it after lunch and rushing to class.

I contacted Grey Ray to review their new stationary and I was like "helllooooo there" as you do. The drawing out tool is a little nifty device that extends that stubby pencil you cannot live without. Making it a lot easier to get the last life out of that pencil that you used to write " I <3 Ryan Gosling" all over your art notebook in year 11. Whether it's a coloured pencil or not these will just pop into the tool as if you just placed a pencil topper onto it!

I love drawing and as soon as I realized what I had in front of me, I thought it was such an awesome idea.
I also got Pencil Protectors. Perhaps you are always breaking them in your bag while you rush to your next lesson after an intense drawing class but other than that I have no use for these. They are pretty cool but I'd prefer the Drawing Out tool to the protectors. It's pretty much an all in one tool for a pencil holder and protector as it comes with a lid.

I'd loved the idea of this and will definitely be using it for when my pencils are short while I'm sketching.
Thank you Grey Ray for sending these unique products to me.

You can check out Grey Ray here. They've just brought out a Drawing Folio which is a mash of a sketch book and portfolio!

Have you come across any unique stationary tools or just tools in general? Are you an artist, would you use these? let me know!

Charity Shop Finds: Books & Summer Dress

Tuesday 15 April 2014

The sun is shining, I had money in the bank. So Tony and I decided to do a spot of food shopping and a walk around which lead us into some charity shops. The first shop I found the book One Day, which is one of the books I've been wanting to read lately. It was only 99p. ;)

One Day by David Nicholls
"15th July 1988. Emma and Dexter meet for the first time on the night of their graduation. Tomorrow they must go their separate ways. So where will they be on this one day next year? And the year after that? And every year that follows? Twenty years, two people, ONE DAY. From the author of the massive bestseller STARTER FOR TEN"

I'm looking forward to reading this! I then walked into another charity shop and bought Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. It's my first John Green book and I haven't read The Fault in our Stars. Shock horror. It seems everyone and their mother these days has read that book. It was £2!

Will Grayson, Will Grayson By John Green and David Levithan
"One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, teenager Will Grayson crosses paths with . . . Will Grayson! Two teens with the same name who run in two very different circles suddenly find their lives going in new and unexpected directions. Culminating in epic turns-of-heart on both of their parts, they team up to produce the most fabulous musical ever to grace the high-school stage."

I love how this is a story about a teenager who meets another person with the same name. I don't think I've ever come across someone who isn't slightly amazed by the fact that another person has the same name as you, especially a celebrity. I'm Jess Robinson. It's such a common name so it's hardly anything special but if you have an uncommon name then its fascinating. Yet we always get that one person who will ask if we are related. I'm not related to any other Jess Robinson and I'm not instantly related to anyone with the name Robinson. However I do like being a juice drink!  I have high expectations of a John Green novel. Let me know if you've read this book or any books I've bought!

And lastly for my mini book haul, I bought Eat, Pray, Love. Another book I've wanted to read. I've heard such good things about this and even holded off watching the film until I got my hands on a copy of the book. And waahla! I've found it for £1! As Raj from Big Bang Theory says. " It will change your life.. "

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
"It's 3 a.m. and Elizabeth Gilbert is sobbing on the bathroom floor. She's in her thirties, she has a husband, a house, they're trying for a baby - and she doesn't want any of it. A bitter divorce and a turbulent love affair later, she emerges battered and bewildered and realises it is time to pursue her own journey in search of three things she has been missing: pleasure, devotion and balance. So she travels to Rome, where she learns Italian from handsome, brown-eyed identical twins and gains twenty-five pounds, an ashram in India, where she finds that enlightenment entails getting up in the middle of the night to scrub the temple floor, and Bali where a toothless medicine man of indeterminate age offers her a new path to peace: simply sit still and smile. And slowly happiness begins to creep up on her."

I'm looking forward to all of these books and will be marking them off my Good Reads list too!
And lastly. I spotted a beautiful floral summer dress for £4 and noticed it was from Primark. I can't wait to team this dress up with some grey leggings (or non at all) and some cute shoes.
I'm excited for summer and I'm excited for what it has to bring. Tony and I are even thinking of volunteering for working in one of our local charities, just to do something on days where we don't have plans! If you jump. I jump.

What have you found in a charity shop? Any new books I should read this summer, let me know! :D

The Wedding Diaries: Paper Theme's Save The Date Cards

Saturday 5 April 2014

I snapped up the opportunity to review some wedding stationary when the opportunity arose on twitter. I'm getting married in August and I haven't even sent out save the date cards yet, so this was perfect. My cards were made and sent by Paper Themes. They are a personalised wedding stationary shop. When choosing my design, it was so hard as there were so many beautiful designs but I finally chose the whimsical design which showcases a beautiful birdcage on the cover. And since I have a birdcage tattooed on my shoulder, I thought it was a perfect match. Inside is a beautiful font made to look hand written. If you are getting married soon and would like to try some free samples, they offer them on the website.

Choosing and editing your design, couldn't be more easier. You input what you want the card to say. Not only do they do stationary but Paper Themes also do favour boxes and wedding accessories such a confetti, post boxes and balloons.

When they arrived I wasn't expecting such a lovely box. I was so impressed and it made me all giddy inside. And then I looked inside the box and gasped at my gorgeous new cards which were wrapped in paper. I couldn't wait to see inside and start writing out names. Such great quality cards. I can't wait to go back and buy my wedding invites!

Let it go, Let it gooooooo. The cold never bothered me anyway.

I got a lovely package from Garlands of Ellfi the other day. Inside were some lovely black rose kitty ears that I had requested. And two Frozen inspired bows which were some lovely extras! And their hair accessories are the perfect accessory for summer! If you ask, they will do custom hair bands for you. ;)

I have nothing but love for them and this shop. You should check them out on Facebook , you can find all their links on there. :D
