FENWICKS CHRISTMAS WINDOW 2019: CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Thursday 14 November 2019

For three years I've posted about the Fenwicks Christmas Window and it's becoming a tradition to go see it every year now. For many years I was never bothered about seeing the window but lately I've been getting more and more excited for festive activities leading up to Christmas Day. For the past two years Fenwicks have had a Paddington Bear and The Snowman on display. If you don't come from Newcastle or can't get down to the window, here is some photos for your viewing pleasure.

This year Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the theme. Firstly the window is amazing and I have my favourite window. Can you guess? I'm a little sad that Greggs didn't swap their sign around like they did last year and the music has no hints of Willy Wonka at all and NO OOMPA LOOPAS, not even mini ones treading through the snow on the windows. Disappointing. However Fenwicks special bear this year is Willy Wonka and it's adorable!

Through the windows you see the story of Charlie and the Chocolate factory unfold. From Charlie getting the ticket, to Willy Wonka greeting them at the door to Veruca, Violet, Mike and Augustus getting their comeuppance and finally Charlie in the glass elevator. Of course my favourite window was Veruca and the Squirrels.

What would you like to see Fenwick's do for 2020?
