Wreck This Journal : Introduction

Friday 28 February 2014

After seeing these pop all over tumblr, instagram and youtube videos & a few blogs, I've been dying to buy this book but never got around to it! Then finally while buying my new camera tripod I stuck in Wreck This Journal into my Amazon basket for a lovely £3 + P&P after reading Claire's post :D It arrived the other day and I had a flick through the pages and I'm so excited to start this.
If you don't know what Wreck this Journal is. It's basically what the title says. You wreck this journal. Throw it, burn it, stamp of it, get it wet but do it creatively. Read the instructions and create a masterpiece.
I hate cracking the spines of books and one of the instructions is to do this exactly!  I will be making a blog post series starting next week on a wednesday! I will show you what I did to my journal. If you want a video as well on my newest youtube channel (not Jesstony) then please let me know. :)

I also want Keri Smith's other book called The Pocket Scavenger! Soon. I will get you soon.

Let me know what you think of Wreck This Journal!

Garlands of Ellfi

Tuesday 25 February 2014

Last week was pretty lousy but it wasn't all bad! The lovely Elle, one half of Garlands of Ellfi and I got talking and we thought it would be a good idea to do a little swap. My Midnight Tea Parties Jewellery for a lovely Garland she has made. I chose a white and ivory rose garland as I'm planning on getting married in August and I thought it would be lovely to have these at my wedding, not just for me but for my bridemaids too! What better way then to try them out. Elle also kindly put in a little purple & pink rose headband too, which is adorable.

I've seen some highly priced rose garland headbands out there and Garlands of Ellfi is definitely not one of them. Handmade with love and care. These headbands are beautiful and affordable. Perfect for those spring/summer days that are coming soon! What I love about Garlands of Ellfi is not only does the name sound like something from Lord of the Rings or some mystical land but they have a variety of headbands! Elle has made super cute kitty ear headbands and has even started on mouse ears! She will even customize them for you. ( I've asked for black kitty ears)

I've met Elle through blogging and I consider one of my new best friends. We've chatted alot since introducing ourselves and we have alot in common! She's a geek, I'm a geek. She has a weird and slightly feminine boyfriend and so do I! ( I'm kidding Tom & Tony, don't kill me :P ) Elle is wonderful to talk to and I feel as if I had a problem or I needed someone to talk to, Elle would definitely been there even if she lives like a thousand miles away!

SOCIALLY AWKS

Monday 24 February 2014

I'm one of those people who are shy, quiet and won't speak up about anything unless I'm quite comfortable to be around you. I'm what you would call a "loner". I was pretty much just that in High School. I had a few friends but not many. Mostly one or two close friends I could relate to at that time. And I'm still in touch with these friends too but I wouldn't say I hang out with them as much as I would like. Life gets in the way. Being an adult and finding time to socialize is quite challenging for me. I'm just getting by with dealing with my rent and everyday essentials and this is why I don't go out and buy the latest outfit or beauty products and my blog isn't full of these reviews. I would love to be able to do a make-up haul sometime!
I have low self esteem and body issues. I'm not confident and I get nervous whenever I meet someone new. Oh how I wish I was 5 years old. That age when you could just walk up to any kid on the playground and automatically be best friends for half an hour. My body and looks are not up to my standard. I'm what doctors would class as obese even though I'm only 3 stone over my perfect weight! I hate my body and I hate how I feel about it. One of life's lessons is to love yourself and that is hard when you are consistently loathing your body. "But you're beautiful" some of you say. It's all just good camera angles. Something I've been able to do since our MySpace days. I hardly have full body pictures and I hate it when other people take my photo. "Check out my five chins!", "Eww look at my skin!", "I look pregnant!". Just some of the thoughts in my head. I am always the girl behind the camera, not in front. I'm always trying to eat healthy but I fail everytime. Hello Chinese takeaway. I'm trying to slowly become a vegetarian...slowly...

You may be wondering why I'm writing this post. Since I started blogging, I've been making new friends, booking events to attend because I hardly go out and its one of my goals to do new things and experience new adventures and it suddenly hit me that I would be meeting people I've only ever talked to online. I have online friends that I've known forever and they've seen me on skype once or twice but never have they met me in person. Same goes for everyone I'll be meeting through blogging or through Newcastle Comic Con. I'll be a nervous wreck. "What if they don't like me?" , "What if they find me repulsive because I'm not as thin as others?!", "What if they think I don't like them because I can't find anything to talk about?" These thoughts run though my head.

Don't get me wrong. I can't wait to meet everyone , have connections and new people to hang out with. Sometimes I just need a girl friend to hang out with and eat food, shop and watch films without feeling like I have nothing to say to them or worrying that they might not like me. I'm around my fiance 24/7 because I can't go outside on my own. I feel like everyone is staring at me. Even though most of the time, no one really cares. I just can't help but have this feeling.

So if I'm shy when I first meet you. It's not because I don't like you. It's because I have no idea what to say to you or how to react. Socializing has never been my strong point and I'm cooped up in my house, wishing I had money to go to Starbucks and have a natter. I'm thankful blogging has let me know some amazing people.

Are you as socially awkward as me?

Loot Crate February 2014

Friday 21 February 2014

It's that time of the month. No! Not that one. It's LootCrate! If you don't know what lootcrate is then let me explain. It's a monthly subscription service from the US. Just like Neek Box in the UK they offer 5-8 geeky items in a box, usually with a theme. This month's theme was warriors with lots of Bravest Warriors loot! Sadly to say I've never seen or heard of Bravest Warriors until recently so I will be checking that out. Let's go over with what I got this month.
Bravest Warriors Digital Comic - Woop. Now I get to see what the craic is with Bravest Warriors. There is a code to redeem online to download the comic. :)
Valentine's Card -This is so cute. Inside said " I love you more than bacon". Too bad I hate bacon!
Dummy Figurine - I got the one I wanted! The Pigbat. ^_^ it's adorable and one of my favourite things in my box this month.
Bravest Warriors Sticker - I've seen others with Catbug and even though I've never heard of Bravest Warriors I would have preferred that one over this design.
Bravest Warriors Bow Tie - There was two designs of this one with Impossibear and the other with Catbug. Both are cute. I got impossibear.. I dunno what to do with it since I probably won't wear it. I might stick it on Zazzles later :P
Gaming Warriors Tshirt - Another favourite item from the box. This t-shirt is awesome. It features Halo, Supermario Bros and Donkey Kong. I shall be wearing this soon.
Lootcrate Badge - Lootcrate now gives out badges for each months theme. Last month was Launch. :)
Bravest Warriors Bag -  I'm not familair with Bravest Warriors so I'm clueless with this but it's pretty cool ^_^

I did an unboxing on youtube and messed up alittle. Watch it if you dare & Give it a thumbs up.

Next month I will be featuring Neek Box! :)

Let me know in the comment's below if you subscribe to geek boxes? And if you would like to see more youtube videos!

CanvasDesign Review + GIVEAWAY!

Thursday 20 February 2014

I've been thinking of decorating my house for a while now since I moved in July 2013. I haven't had the chance to decorate properly and my walls are looking a bit bare. I'm quite the picture taker and love taking my camera out and about. Last summer my beautiful husband to be and his daughter were playing in the park across from the house and I snapped this little beauty. I've loved this photo for a long time and I've finally got it on a beautiful canvas frame from CanvasDesign!

They sent me this beautiful canvas and I'm so happy with this. It came in some serious packaging! It took about 5 minutes to get in. Which I'm happy about. It arrived in perfect condition. The canvas was bigger than expected. I think the size might be a 30x20 but I'm not sure. My photo doesn't do it justice. CanvasDesign has amazing customer service and let me know when the canvas had been printed. Once dispatched they text message you to let you know when it will arrive. They have a 48 hour delivery service and all the frames are pine wood and it comes with a little hanging kit as well. Choose between square, landscape or portrait and even a custom size for your photos!
I am very impressed and I have something to hang on my bare walls. Thank you CanvasDesign.

MUA : Stormy Skies

Wednesday 19 February 2014

As you know I'm quite the fan of MUA Cosmetics and recently I bought a few things from the website including that Matte Lipstick I reviewed. I also bought a new nail polish from the website which was the colour black and is also named Stormy Skies just like the pink nail varnish that they have. I was sent the wrong one. I was sent the pink nail varnish but all was corrected. The customer service from MUA for me was amazing. They sent me the right nail varnish and apologized. I will be putting MUA nail varnishes in my giveaway so make sure you are following!

I love dark nail colours, even though it's almost summer ( but doesn't feel like it) I still love wearing blacks, dark blues and reds. I guess it's my inner sixteen year old goth still getting out. This nail varnish has a special something about it. In which it's not exactly 100% black. It has a hint of shimmering gold. I guess that's where the Stormy Skies name comes in.

You can pick up this little beauty on the website for just £1! Bargain. :D

Simply Cook Box + Discounts

I'm a subscription box junkie. I have to try them out. And this time around its Simply Cook. Which I had seen on Twitter and needed to find out more about this box. So I got one! I'll have to admit though. I haven't made anything from the recipes supplied with the box. But I will soon!
The box is the same size as a Graze Box, so it's perfect for slotting through your letterbox! The recipe cards shown come inside with a welcome note and 4 boxes full of flavorful spices, herb mixes and stocks to help make your meal as wonderful as possible.
Just follow the shopping list and instrutions and away you go. Make Iranian Stew or Hungarian Goulash, both recipes I plan on making. I love trying new and healthy foods so this is a wonderful start to get things going! I'm not really a cous cous person so I won't be trying out the Grilled Halloumi Salad but everything else I will be trying! :D I can't wait to get cooking. The recipe cards are easy to follow as well.

Simply Cook boxes are £10 per month with free shipping. Choose between the Discovery Box (which is what I got) or the Healthy Box! I have included a £5 gift card code for all of you who would like to try it so your first box is only £5! or click my link and get your first box for half price!

Mr Nutcase's Phone Covers!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. And it's been dropped a few times and I've never even bothered getting a phone case for it. Until now! I managed to get a customization phone cover from Mr Nutcase ( I adore the name). Hallelujah my phone case savior! For £14.99 you can get your own phone case. Use your instagram photos or regular camera photos to create an awesome personalized phone case.

I've seen other phone case websites out there. And for me they are just far too expensive! Mr Nutcase offers high value for such low prices. Have a iphone 5 or a tablet? Yep.. Mr Nutcase does cases for them too. Perfect for gifts or Christmas 2014. ;)

I chose my favourite photos of my fiance and his daughter. (My world. ^_^ ) Since technically the Samsung is his phone but I use it more as my tiny HTC Wildfire is outdated and too small and slow for my liking. I need a new phone but Tony's will do. I tried to choose the nicest and best photos for this case. And it's not boring at all. I usually get bored of the same phone case and need to change. I only have two for my wildfire and it bugs be sometimes that I don't have an iphone for all those pretty cases or a Samsung of my own.

It has a weird matte finish but I quickly got used to that. And if you've liked Mr Nutcase on facebook, you get a free screen protector with your case! It's the little things that I love. <3

Let me know in the comments what you would put on your phone/tablet if you got one! :)

You call yourself a gamer? Yes I do!

Monday 17 February 2014

If you haven't realized yet from my twitter or the name of my blog. I'm a geek..but I'm also a gamer. I prefer platform & first person shooter games than MMORPG. Don't ever ask me to play World of Warcraft because I cannot stand that game.
One of the reasons I made this blog was because there wasn't a lot of girly gamer blogs out there. I know most of my posts are about beauty and the latest wishlists for clothing but I felt like I needed to make a blog that I would like to read as a girl gamer. I keep throwing the name around, just because I own a PS3 doesn't instantly make me a gamer! Well I've been playing games since I was 6 years old. When my dad let me go on his PC and I was a loud to play solitaire! Over the years it became Dungeon Keeper, Doom, Duke Nukem, Black and White, The Sims, Tomb Raider and Deus Ex. Some of them are still my favourites today. And now I enjoy GTA, Portal, Deus Ex (the new one), FEAR, Battlefield, Call of Duty, LA Noire, Far Cry, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, The Last Of Us and the list can go on and on. So yes I would call myself a gamer and I am a girl. I'm still trying to make my way through most of the games out for the PS3 & PC. I also own a Nintendo DS but lets not get into that right now.
I'm getting into Minecraft (although it mostly bores me)& Final Fantasy. Recently I only started playing Saint's Row. I remember seeing the 2nd game in a shop and thinking to myself..that looks stupid, I won't be playing that! a few years down the line and I'm obsessed with this game and flew right through Saint's Row 2 and 3 and I had to go out and buy Saints Row 4 because I missed playing it and needed a new game. I still have about 5 unfinished games to play.
Saints Row is very much like GTA but with a little more humor and WTF moments. I'm currently running around a made up town called Steelport with superpowers! Saints Row also has epic soundtracks. Aerosmith, My Chemical Romance and Paramore are some of the artists lending there music to these games.
I can't wait till there is a 5th game because before you read the rest of this, I'll probably be near the end of this game! I still have Portal 2 to finish off and I love playing that with my partner. The turrents are super cute.
I also love daft beat them up games such as Lollipop Chainsaw and WET. Basically I realised that I will buy any game that Eliza Dushku has a voice over in! (WET & Saint's Row 2...I wish she had voiced Shaundi in the other sequels)
I'm hoping in the future I will be getting a PS4 and I'm looking forward to new games that are out now and in the future. COME ON WATCH DOGS. I NEED YOU.
I'll have to see about this Jazzpunk I've been hearing and watching about so much.
I really wanted to do gaming videos on youtube but I find my voice irritating and horrible. I must get used to it if I want to do other videos! :(

Anyhoo.
Do you play? What have been your fav games over the years? Do you play on PC, Xbox or PS3? I wanna know. Leave your comments below. :)

Graze Box

Wednesday 12 February 2014

It is a cold and miserable day but today's post made up for that. I received my Graze Box! I got my first one for Free but I cannot remember who I got the code from but thank you for sharing it. I'll be sharing my code too! I'm not a stranger to these boxes, a few years ago, back in 2011 I bought them every week since I had a full time job at the time I thought these would be perfect little snack boxes for throughout the day. I would pick my favourite out of the four and take it to work. Usually my mum and I would pick one when it had arrived and eat the most tasty looking one. They never lasted long and from the selection I got this week this box doesn't look like its going to last long! I've already opened up the flapjacks and eaten the banoffee shortbread!.
For those who have hidden under a rock for the past few years, let me tell you about Graze. A Grazebox is a subscription service for healthy snacks straight to your door and you get to control what goes into your box! If you don't like nuts then put them in the bin and you won't get them in your box. If you love flapjack then you will get more flapjacks in your box! It's simple. Just go through the list of foods you are going to get in your box and choose between Bin, Like, Love and Try. It's great :)
The graze box is perfect for recycling, They care about the environment and our health. Everything you get in the box can be recycled. Check out the FAQ of their website for more information as there is too much goodness to put in the blog post! Simply everything they create was done in their kitchen, they pick the best foods that are healthy and yummy and pop them into your graze box. Each tub of food comes with an expiry date as their food is fresh! Not like the food in these boxes last long. Once you get it you dive straight into it.
You also get booklets with your box so read through them as they contain nutrition about your tubs and codes for your friends.
My favourite out of the box was the Banoffee dippers. My other half even licked the toffee sauce once I was finished. It's so yummy and the shortbread isn't too strong flavoured. I hope to get this very soon in my next box! My second favourite was the Summer Berries flapjack. So soft and succulent. I have yet to try the others. I'm sure I have tried the cheese selection as I got it previously in a box but since they have added alot more yummy's since 2011.
I'm giving everyone my Friend Code. So you can try out Grazebox for FREE! Yes free! Get your 1st, 5th and 10th box for free and share the love too! :) Just input your details and your grazebox will come within a couple of days and delivery is free! Everytime someone joins up using your code, you ger £1 off your next box. So get Grazing :D

MUA : Matte Lipstick ~ Totally Nude

Saturday 8 February 2014

I bought this last week and it came the other day. I've been wearing it since. It's the PERFECT nude on my lips. I absolutely love it. I'm not a huge lipstick wearer and when I do where it, I like it to be a soft pink or a creamy beige. So as soon as I saw this on MUA Website I just had to buy it. And at a bargain price of just £1. I also snapped up the shade Peachy Keen. Which is a very light pink.
I'm wearing Totally Nude in these photos and it really does look like I haven't got lipstick on at all. And that is why I love it! It's one of those lipsticks that blend so well for an effortless look. Just vamp up those eyes and off you go.
I've loved MUA Cosmetics for a long time and the price just baffles me. The quality of these products astounds me. I will be re-purchasing!
Peachy Keen is another lipstick I'll be wearing daily too.
MUA, you have turned me in to a daily lipstick wearer. I thank you for that.

I wasn't too sure about buying these lipsticks at first because I'm so used to glossy lipsticks! I thought the Matte ones would dry out my lips but in fact they moisturized them ever so slightly!

Have you bought these lipsticks? What did you think of them?

Raw Skincare : Lip Balms

Thursday 6 February 2014

Hint of Mint - £1.98*
Rescue Me - £2.98*
Ginger - £1.98*

I recently won the chance to become Raw Skincare's new sponsor. I was honoured they picked me to tell the world about their fabulous products. Let me tell you a little bit about Raw Skincare before I go into their lovely lipbalms. All of their products are Eco Friendly, Natural and Animal Cruelty Free and cost effective. They are even recycable!  Their tagline is "Natural Skincare that doesn't cost the earth. Stay Beautfiul, Naturally". And the website is easy peasy lemon squeasy. Not only do they do lip balms but a range of Body Butters, Skin Serums, Dry Shampoo and Masks too. I have my eye on a Repair and Revive Body Butter.

As soon as I found out that my package had been delivered I ripped it open like it was Christmas and had a good look at the Lip balms. My lips have been sore and chapped since the cold winter started and I immediately put on the Rescue Me Lip Balm. I don't know if it was the the freezing cold weather or if it was because it was the first time in use but it took it a while to glide on my lips. The balm seemed frozen but after a few smears on my lips it eventually loosened up and glided on like a dream.
"Rescue Me lip balm is an extra intensive balm that works to relieve your lips from everyday damage that can leave your lips feeling dry, sore and chapped. This deeply moisturising and conditioning balm with added Vitamin E will soak into your skin to help hydrate and nourish, as well as form a protective barrier to help fight against further harm. With it's instantly calming effect, it will help soothe your sore and chapped lips"
This is exactly what it did. After a day, my lips feel smooth and kissable! Rescue Me Lipbalm has a hint of Vanilla scent. Which is lovely.

Hint of Mint is exactly what you'd expect it to smell like. Minty goodness. It's like sniffing a packet of After Eights! This lipbalm cools your lips and gives it a fresh tingly sensation and smells good enough to eat. Just like the Rescue Me, Hint of Mint immediately makes your lips softer than a baby's bottom!

I gave the Ginger Lipbalm a good old whiff. It's a protecting and moisturising lipbalm but to be perfectly honest. It's a love it or hate it lipbalm due to the smell. It remind's me of the times I order bits of ginger on the side of my sushi! As I kept smelling, I got used to it. In fact the smell is growing on me but the taste on my lips reminds me of the times I'm eating sushi. It still does the job and keeps my lips pleasantly moisturised.

Over all. I can without a doubt tell you that these lip balms work! My favourite from the three is Rescue Me. Just because the smell isn't over powering and doesn't make me wanna eat my lips every few seconds and it worked instantly on my chapped lips making them smooth. I'm popping this little beauty into my handbag!
I loved all three lip balms and was grateful to be given the chance to test them out. My lips were in need of a good nourishing lipbalm. So they came at a very good time! I now have very kissable lips for Valentine's Day. So thank you Raw Skincare.

And I recommend everyone tries one of their lipbalms!
